Sport
Key Stage 1 (Years 1,2)
Encouraging students to be active and have fun in all activities is our focus. The development of fine and gross motor skills; speed; agility; coordination and problem solving are all incorporated into lessons. Basic ball skills and cooperative games are introduced at this stage to enhance active learning, participation and teamwork.
Key Stage 2 (Years 3,4,5 and 6)
Our sporting programme focuses on the main sports played in ISAZ schools, such as: swimming, football, netball, hockey, athletics, cross-country and golf. We endeavour to give the students a solid foundation in various sports, preparing them for high school and specialisation for the future. We use sport for promoting team spirit, cooperation and developing fundamental concepts of team tactics and strategy.
A constant reinforcement of our school values: Respect, Resilience, Responsibility, Integrity, Innovation and Industry are key ingredients in sport lessons for the social and emotional development and growth of each student.
We play inter-house events and promote interaction and competition with other schools.
Clubs
The clubs offered in the afternoons are interest based and voluntary. Children sign up for these at the end of one term for the start of another. We give the pupils the independence to make their own choices on the clubs that interest them. Club choices may range from art and craft activities to music, drama and dance and is very much based on student interest and may vary from term to term. Parents and other community members are encouraged to offer their expertise, as this will help develop the link between school and community.
